The ancient tradition of Lammas, celebrating the first of the Harvest, is often overlooked these days and overshadowed by regular Harvest Festivals in the autumn, which we will of course continue to celebrate.

We have decided, however, to celebrate Lammas as well this year with a special Benefice Eucharist at which Rev Nicky Allison will officiate.  Lammas actually falls on 1 August, but we we will celebrate it the Sunday before, 30 July.

We have been able to find someone who will make us a special, traditional Lammas loaf, in the shape of a wheatsheaf.  The service will be followed by a simple lunch of bread, including that special loaf, soup and cheese/pate in Barton Village Hall.
