The Street Parishes run along the old Roman Road, now the B1257, from Malton towards Helmsley, in North Yorkshire. The market town of Malton stands about 14 miles (22 kilometres) north-east of York, along the A64 road from York to Scarborough. The villages of The Street tend to lie just off the main road and the church buildings are not always visible until the visitor turns off the main road into the villages. Persistence has its reward. The church buildings are normally open to visitors every day during the hours of daylight.
